FAQ

Where are you located?
1-2-1 classes take place from my home studio on Broadstreet in the city centre. Online lessons are via Zoom. When you book in for lessons you will get an email confirmation with all the details including further information on how to find the building.

Do you need any previous experience?
No! You do not need any previous experience to join any of my classes.

What age can you start classes at?
My 1-2-1 classes start from 8 years old and upwards. If you have a child under 8 years, I always recommend that they attend a stage school or another group music activity first before coming for 1-2-1 lessons.

What time are the classes?
The 1-2-1 classes are normally 30 minutes and take place Monday-Friday and Sunday.   I can do 45 minute lessons also, but they depend on my availability. There would also be an increase in the price for a longer lesson. The group class duration depends on my

availability and are organised on a per term basis.

My schedule most of the time is as follows:

Monday- Friday

1pm-3pm Online lessons.

4pm-7:30pm In person lesson.

7:30-8:30pm Online lessons .

Sunday

12:15pm-4:15pm In person lessons.

Admin Hours: 11:30am-12:15pm and 5pm-7pm

(The admin day is subject to change, for e.g. during a bank holiday weekend, midterm break or annual leave.)

How do I get in contact with you?
You can contact me via WhatsApp (083 0032263), Email (emelie@thevoiceboxlimerick.com), Instagram, Facebook and through the booking request page on the website. Due to a busy teaching schedule my official admin day where I answer all WhatsApp's, emails and messages is Sunday so if you do not hear from me do not panic I will get back to you on Sunday. I try to get back to everyone as quickly as possible. If you have an urgent enquiry drop an email to emelie@thevoiceboxlimerick.com with 'URGENT' in the subject line.

How much do lessons cost?
I normally run per a term so the cost of my term lessons depend on what term you join as some terms are longer then others. Group lesson costs can change per term depending on my availability. If you are interested in a term it would be best to either fill out the booking request form or contact form and ask what my current rates are. If you are not interested in a term of lessons you can check out the cancellation lesson booking page where you can book one lesson for €20. Make sure you read all the information and polices about cancellation lessons before booking.

Are there any hidden costs?

Once you pay for your lesson there are no more costs! I pay for all materials for lessons or make my own materials if something is too expensive! Everyone adhering to the cancellation and rescheduling policy helps me to keep my current rates and pay for any extra materials we use in the classes.

How do I book with you?

I have an online booking  request form that you can fill out with all your day and time preferences! I normally run per term, but if you just want one lesson you can check out my online booking page for cancelation lessons. A cancellation lesson means that a term student cancelled one of their classes and that one spot is now available. Cancellation lessons are dependant on how many cancellations come and how early I am in informed of a cancellation.

Make sure you read all the information and polices about cancellation lessons before booking.

Do I need to bring anything for my lessons?

I generally recommend bringing a bottle of water to your singing lesson. I also love a nice list of songs that the student would like to work on! On the first lesson I will have to hear you sing a bit of a song. This is to help me determine what exercises would be best for your voice! I have ukulele's and a guitar available for anyone who wishes to use them during their lesson but do take into account any tuning of an instrument will dip into your lesson time!

If I arrive late do I still get the full half hour lesson?
Unfortunately no! As there is only 3 hours per evening for in person lessons, I can not leave a grace period for students to arrive late. If you arrive late your lesson will end at the normal time. I have students back to back so I can run late due to the stairs coming up and down to the studio. If I am late for your appointment I will add on the extra time on for you as it was my fault.

Do you have a bathroom students can use?
Yes I do have a bathroom but please keep in mind that by using the bathroom it will take up time out of your 30 minutes lesson so it would be best to go at home before you arrive for your lesson.

Is there car parking at your studio?
There is no parking available for the studio so park at your own risk. There is on-street parking near the studio and also parking in the euro car park before 6pm. You cannot park in the apartment block car park including the outside of the building as you may get clamped if you leave your car unattended there.

Can I bring my bike or scooter?
There are no bike racks or safe spaces for a bike/scooter near the studio so park them at your own risk. My studio is upstairs, there is a lift but it can be out of order sometimes. If you are travelling to your lesson via bike or scooter  and want to bring it upstairs drop me a message beforehand to make sure the lift is working but keep in mind that the slower we take to go up the stairs to start your lesson the less time we will have in your 30 minute class. If you plan to lock up your bike/scooter outside make sure you give yourself plenty of time to do so as I normally can't go over your scheduled half hour slot so the later you are the less time we have in the lesson.

If I have to cancel my classes, can I finish my lessons next term?
Lessons cannot be carried over to a different term for example if you are booked in for the summer school all lessons must be completed in the summer and cannot be moved to the Autumn term. As much as I would like to allow crossovers, the autumn and winter terms book out extremely quickly and I just can't guarantee there would be a spot for any lessons to be made up from previous terms.

What happens when I book in for a lesson?
When you book in for a class I will send an email confirmation with all the details including a YouTube video of how to find the building or the online settings required if the classes are on zoom. The reservation fee information and student form is in the email confirmation and you have 24 hours to complete those before I cancel your reservation and offer  the spots to another student.

Can I switch my classes to online if I have booked in person?
I need extra time in between in-person and online students so I can keep students' lessons running on schedule. If I have an in person right before or right after an online student I will run late because of the time it takes to collect the student downstairs. You do have the option to switch to online via zoom if you wish but a week's notice is required so I can either move the in person lessons slightly to accommodate the switch or move your lesson to a more online appropriate time. But keep in mind if the other students cannot amend their times and I am fully booked, switching may not always be possible.

Cat Friendly!
My studio is cat friendly. I have two studio cats called Jiji and Midnight. They normally stay in the living room during classes but just in the event they will not stay in the living room you may meet them in the hallway. I just have one rule and that is to not pet them unless you have permission with me there. They are people shy so you probably won't see them anyway! Sorry cat lovers! If you have any animal allergies I would recommend changing your class to online.

What is your cancellation policy?

One Time Cancellation Lesson Cancellation Policy

The full amount is due when booking a one time cancellation lesson. As this is a cancellation lesson slot, meaning a term student has cancelled it, it can not be rescheduled again as you are taking it over from the term student that originally cancelled it. No refunds will be provided so please make sure to carefully review your schedule before booking a lesson.

Term Students Cancellation Policy
A term booking is any booking of three lessons or more. As spaces are extremely limited, the reservation fee is non refundable. The reservation fee is not an extra fee, it is part of the full payment of the lessons you are booking. It is a security measure for myself so I know those that are booking will definitely turn up for their classes on the day and will not cancel at the last minute or just not show up. If you have paid the full amount for your lessons and cancel all of your classes you have to give at least 3 weeks notice of that cancellation. If you give the correct notice you will receive a gift voucher so you can book in another time. If you cancel late and are doing a Paypal subscription you cannot cancel that subscription and stop payments early, you still owe the full amount for that term. Everyone adhering to the cancellation and rescheduling policy helps me to keep my current rates and pay for any extra materials we use in the classes.

Term Students Rescheduling Policy

If you need to reschedule a lesson you need to tell me by 9am the day before your lesson! For example if your lesson is 5pm Monday you must contact me by 9am the Sunday before. I will do my best to reschedule any lesson that gives this notice, however even with this notice, reschedules are dependent on my availability so they may not be possible. Please double check your schedule before booking a lesson. The rescheduling policy is the same for anyone who books using a gift voucher. Everyone adhering to the cancellation and rescheduling policy, helps me to keep my current rates and pay for any extra materials we use in the classes.
